Titus was the name of my Bouvier des Flandres dog who passed away November 10, 2005 in St Pierre D’Irube in the Pays Basque. Also the name of a great roman emperor! He was 2 days from his 16th birthday! 16 years old!! Can you believe it!?!? 150 years old in human years! A great dog he was! Born in Quebec, Canada, lived on three different continents; North America, Africa and Europe! A bit of a stubborn dog with luxurious tastes and habits but he was universally loved! Except those young kids that thought he was a big black furry bear! The night of his death, Philippe Boudal came over for a quality music session, the song “Titus” was born!

Little info on the Bouvier des Flandres breed of dogs:
The Bouvier des Flandres is a dog breed originating in Flanders. They are used for general farm work including cattle droving, sheep herding, cart pulling, and as guard dogs, police dogs, and security dogs, as well as being kept as pets. It can be noted that usage of the French name (meaning, literally, “Herdsman of Flanders”) is contradictory with the Flemish origin of the breed; in Flemish, they are known as Koehond, or cattle dog. Other names for the breed are Toucheur de Boeuf (cattle driver) and Vuilbaard (dirty beard).

Little info on the name Titus:
Titus Flavius Vespasianus (December 30, 39 AD – September 13, 81), also known as Titus, was a Roman Emperor (79-81) of the Flavian dynasty.

Titus was a successful general who crushed the Jewish Rebellion in 70. He was considered a good emperor by Tacitus and other contemporary historians; he is best-known for his public building program in Rome and for his generosity in relieving the suffering caused by two disasters, the Mount Vesuvius eruption of 79 and the fire of Rome of 80.
