January 9th, 2008ACID PRO AND WINDOWS VISTA :: PROBLEM *FIXED*
Just a quick post to complain about how much harder it has become to create music using my favorite music software ACID PRO and Windows Vista!
Everything worked great with Windows XP but ever since i got a DELL Dimension E520 with Windows Vista, things have stopped working! I keep Vista for the increased security but I had loads of trouble just installing ACID PRO and now it fucks up all the time. Also I get this annoying error message from Vista telling me the software is incompatible! AHHHHHH
With Windows XP, I could easily record “Line-In” sounds from my synthesizer (Yamaha PSR 530) and microphone using Adobe Audition. With Vista, I am not able to figure out how to simply record sounds into Audition!
So I’m waiting for ACID PRO 7 to come out. And maybe i’ll be able to record with the next version of Adobe Auditio. Because of these problems, I have been much less musically productive in the last couple months! I love to make music! This is really pissing me off!
One solution i have found is to go back to using FruityLoops aka FL Studio XXL. At least it works normally!
Have you had similar problems because of Windows Vista?

Stefano has found a solution for the Help Message Error pop up always appearing when using the Track FX Audio Plugins in Acid Pro 6 and Vista. Merci Stefano!
You need to download and install the Microsoft Windows patch update KB917607. Click HERE

Windows Help (WinHlp32.exe) is a Help program that has been included in Microsoft Windows since Microsoft Windows 3.1. WinHlp32.exe is required for users who want to view 32-bit Help files that have the .hlp file name extension.
However, this Windows Help program has not had a major update for many Windows releases, and it no longer meets Microsoft standards. Therefore, starting with Windows Vista, Microsoft has decided that it will no longer include this Windows Help program as a component of Windows. Also, third-party programs that include .hlp files are no longer allowed to redistribute this Windows Help program.
Users who want to view 32-bit .hlp files in Windows Vista or in a future Windows release must now download WinHlp32.exe from the Microsoft Download Center, and then install it on their computers.

oh man, more vista problems. I can run acid pro 6, but everytime i click on Track EQ, i get a windows help message that pops up in another window. grr, that makes me mad. :@

I’m surprised! You do not get a popup windows error message when you try to add some effects and play with the track EQ?
Which version of Vista do you use? Integral?

when i tried puting acid pro 6 in vista i got a different error. it’s telling me i need microsoft.net Framework 1.1 i tried installing it and then it tells me i cant run the application beacuse im tring to change something ….HELP….

I think I had the same problem for my installation with microsoft.net Framework 1.1 (dotnetfx.exe)

yes Xarj, I´d both of two issues in the inicial installation…
the KB917607 fixed the winhlp32 problem and frameworks 1.1 and 1.1fixed is needed too…
after of them acid pro 6 works fine under vista…
still awaiting for new acid pro version 7?

Hell yeah! Can’t wait for Sony Acid Pro 7.0 to come out!! If we are lucky, it will be 100% compatible with Windows Vista.
I looked around for info on Acid Pro 7.0 but could not find anything at all on the upcoming music software. It might be available for September 2008, latest at Christmas 2008.

I’ve installed framework 1.1 + sp1 and also the windows help patch but I keep seeing this message:
The installation Wizard has ended prepaturely!

If you give us more information we might be able to help out. Where does the error message occur? You are trying to install Acid 6 on Vista, yes? I don’t think any versions before 6 would work on Windows Vista.

I used to get the ‘this version of help is not available’ pop up or something similar to that when I hit the Track FX button. I tried getting the update that was recommended here. Once I installed it, however, the Track FX button is now completely unresponsive. Absolutely nothing happens when I hit it. Ugh. Suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I’ve tried everything including installing framework 1 and sp1 (even followed that how to in that one link). Acid Pro 6 just won’t install. It keeps saying that the installation prematurely ended. It always seems like its already installed, so when i tried running the program, it prompts me for the serial numbers and everything. Once i enter the numbers and hit enter, it just tells me the program wasn’t fully installed.
This is getting frustrating because i HAD to buy a new computer and they all come with Vista. And now, i can’t even uninstall acid pro 6, because it hangs up about 6/7ths of the way!! What gives?

I cannot stand vista…
acid pro 6.0 loaded fine
everything seemed to be going ok..but now I find that my VST effects plugins are not being recognized by acid….it will recognize the VST instruments..but not effects…
I can see acid flash a brief message “loading GT player VST” (gt player being one of the VST effects)
but then it quickly vanishes
I checked the directory and yes..the VST effect dll files are in the vstplugin folder like they are supposed to be and that is the folder specified in the vst effects tab in acid
if anyone have any fix for this..please post here…this is urgent

When will ACID PRO 7 come out ? Sony Creative Software isn’t giving us any news on the upcoming release of Acid Pro 7! Been looking every week on their site for more than a year !! ahhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!! Come on Sony! You are loosing customers with all those people not able to properly use Acid Pro 6 on Windows Vista!

after merely 20 mins of surfing on the

I have discovered the FIX to the above problem I posted
“right click on acid pro icon, select “run as administrator”,
go back into VST effects tab in options-prefrences and rescan for VST effects
they should pop up
so it was just an authorities issue

I work with Acid Pro 5.0 because I dont like to work with the 6.0 version. Got me a better computer and it had Vista on it. Vst effects were not working, I was forced to work with what Vista let me work with. I was trying to figure out what the fck was wrong with Acid, but it left me clueless. And not even talking about the help error that popped up like every 10 seconds.
But thanks to YOU guys everything works like normal!!!!

because when i copy a loop and paste it, it paste it from the begin, and not that what which i copied.
in acid 6 it wasnt a problem, then it paste what i copy, but in acid 7 pro its a problem.
can somebody help me?

yes, copy/paste is a little bug on acid pro 7…
it´s because on long loops or recorded tracks acid creates beatmaper tracks…
with loops tracks there is no problem to copy/paste but with beatmaper this is a bug…
acid pro 7 has some good news but still little buged as new sonymedia products ussually…
using it but waiting for future updates…

Try updating your version of Acid Pro 7. They already have a build 502 out for it. Maybe that includes a fix to the copy & paste problem I’ve been having as well.

WTF!!!same prob(winHlp32exe)/windows help unsupport/vista32/sonyacidpro 6.0 popin up every fx click ‘cant get rid of this fucin ball and chain’im so pissed off that every thing works find on xp and they campain their usless advertizments tellin people shit is better but ive used vista for ownly few weeks and it suxx monkey balls ‘yes’ and i said it ’suxx monkey fucin balls’!!!!

new version acid pro 7.0a just added today…
seems copy/paste issues are just resolved…runs fine now…
another great now in acid pro 7 is the posiblility to run multi outputs for vsts…e.g. you can run addictive drums as vst and put a track for individual outputs like kic, snare, crash etc…just right click mouse on the vst track and list the vst outputs actives…great…

I have a big problem with Acid Pro 7.0… I work with Acid till version 4.0. But in this version 7.0 (i use vista) when i arm record button this only record noise ( a lot of noise). Guitars and others instruments stay low and the noise cover all clean sounds of my instruments… Can any1 help me with that??

Hello guys, Well I realised that everyone is having the same problem with Windows Vista and Acid Pro 6.0..Could any help me with this problem which that am encountering please… thank you…I was installing Acid pro 6.0 on my pc which has Windows Vista 32 bits, it seemed to be loading fine with the desktop shortcut appearing on the desktop, then a a few seconds after it appeared Wizard pops up tellin me that my system is not “MODIFIED” and has ended prematurely…..So I tried moving on to the online manager part of the program but this time while installing the error messasage was “The problem was caused by a compatibility issue between this version of windows and this version of MICROSOFT SQI SERVER MSDE….Is there anyway way that I can make my system “Modified” so that it can become comapatable and able to complete the installation of Acid Pro 6.0..with Windows Vista 32 bits….Thanks in advance guys…

having a problem installing any ACID pro program. I run windows vista and half way into the installation process, this is the message I get “the installer has insufficient privileges to access this directory: c:\program files\sony\acid xpress 7.0. the installation cannot continue. log on as administrator or contact your system administrator.
I tryed installing under administrator, but same error comes up. help please?

i keep trying to download the acid pro free trial, but every time i try to run it, it says its unable to write to C:\Documents and Settings\HP_Administrator\Local Settings\Temp\. check that you have write access to the directory.
