For one, Identi.ca is open source, so users can contribute new features and fix bugs directly, instead of waiting for someone else to do it.

Second, it's federated, which means you can install your own version of the software on your own server, but still "follow" people on any other version, seamlessly. In practical terms this means you could add some new features that you needed (but not everyone else did) to your own version, without ever losing the community you've built. I think this is most important, as services like Twitter and Plurk rather "trap" your community - you can't follow Plurkers on Twitter or vice versa.

I like Identi.ca so much I started a blog about it: http://ohidentica.com. I'm in no way affiliated, just so happy for this breath of microblogging fresh air.

Exciting to see those SEO stats given that Identi.ca just launched on July 3rd :)

Not bad at all! In some areas, identi.ca beats Plurk! I have never tried http://identi.ca. How is it different compared to Twitter and Plurk?

I've tried Plurk, but I find that I prefer Identi.ca, especially since new features are literally pouring in from the open source development community. Have you tried it?
