“I am not going to change. I refuse to be a diva.” America’s Next Top Model first winner Adrianne Marie Curry remains true to her words as she walks through the spotlight with her spouse Christopher Knight.
Curry a strong-willed, poetic, and flamboyant woman of Italian heritage, born August 6, 1982 in Joliet, Illinois, USA is the first winner of the reality TV series America’s Next Top Model cycle one. Before her debut on ANTM she worked fulltime waiting tables. She dropped out in her junior years in high school and ended up having GED or General Education Development by attending classes, studying and passing a five-part test. She admitted that she had a heroin and cocaine addiction and gone to rehab prior to joining the reality TV show America’s Next Top Model. While on ANTM, Curry showed her competitiveness and the drive to want to win it. Winning the ANTM wasn’t really the end but the beginning of a new competition – not anymore on “reality TV” but a battle with reality itself. ANTM promised that the winner will have a “big” Revlon contract, but there was none. Instead, Curry was used by Revlon as a model in some low-profile public appearances, conventions and some short instructional films about applying makeup. Although it wasn’t what she expected, Curry is still very thankful to ANTM for the great learning experience.
Adrianne set her hands at Wilhelmina Models (New York City) and posed for quite numerous magazines like Maxim, Star, Life and Style Weekly, Stuff, Marie Claire, US Weekly, Von Dutch, People, Macy’s, Luck, Merit Diamonds, and Playboy with earnings of $40,000. She also participated in TV programs on ramping namely Jamie Pressly, Anne Bowen Spring in 2005, Christopher Deane, Pamela Anderson’s line, Von Dutch, and Ed Hardy. Curry appeared in Merit Diamonds Sirena Collection advertisement (November 2004 – January2006). She had a nude pictorial and was on the cover of Playboy magazine (February 2006 & January 2008) earning $1,000,000 for the shoot. She also modeled for Nvidia’s technological demo showcasing the company’s graphics card in 2006.
In television, Curry became part of the family of the game show Ballbreaker as co-host. She was one of the jurors in the Match Game episode of Gameshow Marathon in 2006. There was also an appearance of hers in Half and Half in 2003 and Rock Me Baby in 2004. She also appeared in the season four (4) of The Surreal Life early 2005 with Christopher Knight and began dating as the season ended. VH1 aired My Fair Brady (September 11, 2005) – a program about her life with Knight. The season two focused on the couple’s wedding preparations. The spotlight came to her when she ranked 100 in Maxim’s Hot 100 with the help of the said show.
The couple went out of the reality spotlight after the series ended and started hosting on game shows, but more or less they have been off of the camera to focus on their marriage. And now they are back on reality TV along with their marriage still intact.
