America’s Got Talent is hitting television screens once again with its 6th season. After the success of the previous seasons – seasons one (1) to five (5) – AGT is now on-board to showcase unique acts and talents. The reality TV series premiered last May 31, 2011 which claimed the top of the viewership ratings. AGT is hosted by Nick Cannon and the judges for Season 6 are Piers Morgan, Sharon Osbourne, and Howie Mandel. Piers Morgan, a British journalist best known as a judge in reality TV shows and was also the winner of The Celebrity Apprentice. Sharon Osbourne, on the other hand, is a comedian and a television host. Aside from being a judge in AGT, she is also a judge in The X Factor (competition for aspirants in the music industry). Howie Mandel is a stand-up comedian, host and actor. He is best known as the host of the game show Deal or No Deal.
America’s Got Talent season 6 continues to find indefinable talents worthy of receiving the US$1 million cash prize. Just like any other talent search, AGT contestants and aspirants undergo auditions. The process starts with the pre-audition. Pre-audition is handled or judged by the producers of the show. Once an act is approved by the producers then it is in this moment when they are going to do their act in front of the judges with their buzzers and with audiences, which, then is the final audition. The buzzers are pressed whenever there are acts they do not like. Three buzzes means the act is being abolished – the judges are the ones to decide which act goes through and which do not. Once an act got 2-3 yes’s, then it can proceed to the semi-finals and prove their talents being the best among other contestants. On the semi-finals, home viewers and audiences are then allowed to vote after all the groups of the episode have performed. Contestants must show all the talent they got and everything they could possibly do to win the audience and home viewers’ hearts as well as the judges’ approval.
For the sixth (6th) season premiere, there were already fourteen (14) acts that made it through the audition. In no particular order, the contestants with their acts who are qualified for the next round are: Ryan Andreas (Pianist/Singer), The Body Poets (Dance Troupe), Frank Oliver (Juggler), Brennan Figari (Aerialist), Landon Swank (Magician), Olivia Bellafontaine (Burlesque Dancer), Vegas Birds (Animal Act), Frank Miles (Juggler), Scott Alexander (Magician), Miami All-Stars (Dance Troupe), Yellow Designs Stunt Team (Bicycle Act), Preston Weber (Samoan Fire Dancer), Team Iluminate (Blacklight Dancers), and SH’Boss Boys (Rap group). The highlights of the premiere were the rap group SH’Boss Boys – a group of kids with ages 5-7 years old doing a rap as their act, entertaining the audience and the judges. The Yellow Designs Stunt Team was also able to impress the judges and the audiences although one of the members broke his bike during their performance.
America’s Got Talent second episode’s air date is on June 7, 2011 and the third episode on June 8, 2011.
