Asking Game by France/Irish Crew

Here is a great song by my buddy Philippe Boudal from France and currently living in Dublin, Ireland.

This song has been created in Philippe’s house in Dublin, Ireland. It came from a few chords that sounded good at acoustic guitar. With some help of Nico (Bass) and ProTools, a full Saturday has been necessary to record the synthé (piano, violon, choir and cosmic sound at the beginning), the electric and acoustic guitars, and the voices, plus a few hours for mixing.

The first sentences of the lyrics were originally written by Philippe for another song called just a “just a little drink” (a more funny and reggae one). It sounded great with the music so Philippe re-wrote the rest of the song so that it would fit to the atmosphere which is a bit more dramatic.

The original topic was a funny advice like “stop wondering, just take a little drink”. It became something deeper about observing someone being lost and falling into kind of a depression, and not being able to help.

Philippe, Nico, Alex, Rob and Chris are now trying to play it live with their other songs, renting a studio first, and hopefully in some pubs later on…

I called it “Joining Me” because someone special is coming to live with me in Montreal. After two months after being seperated by the atlantic ocean, my french girlfriend is coming to town! I took a day off from work to go pick her up.

FanParty MP3 Music by XarJ

I called this song “FanParty” because the day before I had been at a friend’s friend called Fanny from my school IUT Bayonne. It was truly a great party and the whole class was there, everyone having a blast! If I remember correctly Fanny lived near Guetary in the Basque Country in southern France. Really cute girl too! I even asked her out but she already had a boyfriend… snif snif!

Anyways, FanParty is a Happy song with a sweet melody. Yes it is me singing some improvised lyrics so they don’t always make sense. Hearing this MP3 song again, I’m surprised how high I can sing! Pretty high pitched but it might not sound very natural, I’m forcing it a little bit! A couple years ago I wouldn’t have posted it on my blog thinking it was a little “corny” but now I don’t really care. I want to add all my music, the great and the not so great…

Xarj’s Music Remix of Pink Floyd’s The Great Gig in the Sky

For my Pink Floyd music remix, I cut out the short piano loop at the very beginning of their song “The Great Gig in the Sky” on the album “Dark Side of the Moon“. With this loop, I then built upon it using my favorite music creation software, Acid Pro. Obviously my song has nothing to do with the original music, I just loved that early piano sound and thought it would be inspiring to start a song with. Good Bye Lenin won the Deutschen Filmpreis (German Movie Award) nine times: best film, best actor Daniel Brühl, Florian Lukas best supporting actor, best director, three awards for technical editing, staging and music, and the award for the “German Film of the Year” and actor of the year for Daniel Brühl.

Another amazing music remix by Xarj! This time the remix is done using Jet’s song “Are you Gonna be My Girl”. I’m quite proud of my music remix! I was able to perfectly synchronize the samples music onto a new faster beat. I started by cutting out the loops into the original music by JET. Obviously I need samples without any vocals on it otherwise the voices are also looped and it wouldn’t sound very good. Prodigy’s song was quite controversial back in the days and also a big success hit! Maybe someone important will hear my remix and… ! What a lovely idea!
