Perspective Photography

One of the things which irritates me the most is when I see photographs on Internet or elsewhere with bad perspective photos. The worst, is that we start seeing so many bad perspective pics that you don’t pay attention to how bad they are.

And yet, there is a very simple way to preserve the perspective in your pictures. There is only one rule to follow: Always keep your camera perfectly vertical when taking the shot. Keep it perpendicular to the ground, parallel with the front of the building being photographed.

The following galleries feature all kind of perspective photographs which mix two or more things together to make them communicate. In most cases, it is impossible to perform the actions, but the picture is taken in a certain way that makes them interact.

We got all kinds of Hot Air Balloons! Images of balloon looking like monsters, beer, a peanut balloon, houses, Jesus Christ, a Dog and other various animals. Also see the pictures of Santa Claus as a Hot air balloon, frogs, dinosaures, a space craft etc… These designs are crazy! All the time and effort put into creating a pinguin hot air balloon! wow! Great pictures though!

New form of Art : Cat Painting

Some of these cat paintings have cost $15,000 and had to be renewed every 3 months! Some cat owners are really crazy about their cats! I’m not sure these poor cats really enjoyed the long hours of painting on their fur. The results are pretty amazing! Some cat painting are very simple with a unique color, others are very complex and required a true artist, like painting on a canvas. These cats are ready for Halloween!

Jump with Leafs

Autumn is almost over and winter is approaching. Most of the tree leafs have fallen to the ground. Looking for a cool photo project? Then go out to the forest with a friend and a camera and take some great pictures of you throwing leafs into the air and jumping into the leafs. The contrast between the falling leafs and your jumping body is truly great and will make some nice artistic photos.

It’s hard to take the picture at the right moment. Wait until your friend’s body is well into the air and the leafs have started to fall. Take many shots and choose your favorite, then send me your pictures and I’ll post them on this page for everyone to see!

Here are a few samples photos of me with a friend in a forest in the Nord Pas de Calais in northern France.

Amazing Photoshop Art Picture Gallery

The pictures have two or more “worlds” inside them and these worlds try to communicate or interact together. People trying to exit a photo presented inside the image. A person jumping into a frame. The image on your computer screen physically interacting with the user in front of the monitor. A story within a Story. A play within a play. These effects give the impression of three dimensions (3D) and optical illusions.

Worlds interacting with each other, Stories within stories, Art in Art, can also be called “Mise en Abyme” or “Droste Effect”. It’s Recursion…

Definition of Mise en Abyme from Wikipedia ::

Mise en abyme (also mise en abîme) has several meanings in the realm of the creative arts and literary theory. The term is originally from the French and means, “placing into infinity” or “placing into the abyss”. The commonplace usage of this phrase is describing the visual experience of standing between two mirrors, seeing an infinite reproduction of one’s image.

In Western art “mise en abyme” is a formal technique in which an image contains a smaller copy of itself, the sequence appearing to recur infinitely. The term originated in heraldry, describing a coat of arms that appears as a smaller shield in the center of a larger one. See Droste effect.

In film, the meaning of “mise en abyme” is similar to the artistic definition, but also includes the idea of a “dream within a dream”. For example, a character awakens from a dream and later discovers that he or she is still dreaming. Activities similar to dreaming, such as unconsciousness and virtual reality, are also described as “mise en abyme”. This is seen in the film eXistenZ where the two protagonists never truly know whether or not they are out of the game.

In literary criticism, “mise en abyme” is a type of frame story, in which the main narrative can be used to encapsulate some aspect of the framing story. The term is used in deconstruction and deconstructive literary criticism as a paradigm of the intertextual nature of language–that is, of the way language never quite reaches the foundation of reality because it refers in a frame-within-a-frame way to other language, which refers to other language, et cetera.

Had a real blast doing these images in PhotoShop! I remember the class had a good laugh too! Some pictures are purposely done roughly with the heads way too big for the bodies. Some other pictures are near perfect like the one with Guillaume Jean and Bruce Willis, Alexandre Seban with Poch Spice, Mathieu Gatelier with Poutine and Chirac, Seila Thai as a shy girl and Solenne Bissonnier with Zinedine Zidane.

Do you recognize any of those faces?

I spent quite a while finding all the photos and preparing this Faces Graphic. I have inserted two male faces, can you tell which ones they are? All the rest are supposed to be female faces. There are approximately 70 different faces. If you look closely, you’ll see I have inserted my alias; Xarj into the blank spaces. It was difficult to fill in perfectly all the spaces!

I made this Graphic Faces in Photoshop on July 7th 2006.
