AVOID DUPLICATE CONTENT TO HELP YOUR GOOGLE SERPS

The acronym SERP stands for : Search Engine Results Page. When you type some keywords to search on Google, the results you get are called the SERPS. It is obviously very important to be included in the SERPS for your target keywords.

One way to help your site’s content get better placement in SERPS when using wordpress is to avoid Duplicate Content. For example you write a post about any topic, this post will be available from many different pages on your blog :

  1. Your Main INDEX page

  2. All the Categories you’ve attached your post

  3. Archives Pages with the dates of your post

You could end with a post being linked from five or more pages on your blog. That is considered “Duplicate Content”. Also, it is best if Google indexes your post directly instead of the archive page or category page where your post appears. To do this, you need to add to each of your category and archive pages this small code :

<meta name=”robots” content=”noindex,follow” />

A simple solution to add this line of code to each category and archive pages is to install the All in One SEO Pack Plugin for WordPress.
